# Create

Work with us to develop new bigHead products together, tailor-made for your project.

## Past creations

### Here are some of the bespoke bigHead designs we’ve developed in partnership with our customers.

- # Alternative thread forms ## Fixings with imperial (inch) threads, including UNC and UNF, and other thread forms. #### When to use alternative thread forms Use if your application involves imperial standards or specialist thread forms, and you want to integrate bigHead fasteners without switching to metric (mm) coarse pitch threads. Unified National Coarse (UNC) thread forms are ideal for general-purpose fastening, while Unified National Fine (UNF) offers a tighter pitch for precision assemblies. **Want to create something similar?** [Get in touch](#contact-form)
- # Boss fixings ## Internally-threaded fixings without shoulders. #### When to use boss fixings Use to accommodate assembly fit variations. The larger outer diameter allows for wider clearance holes or slots, giving more positional tolerance during assembly. **Want to create something similar?** [Get in touch](#contact-form)
- # Increased shoulder diameter studs ## Stud fixings with a large shoulder diameter. #### When to use increased shoulder diameter studs Use in combination with larger clearance holes without risking pull-through during assembly torque-tightening. **Want to create something similar?** [Get in touch](#contact-form)
- # Large thread sizes ## Fixings with metric thread sizes greater than M12. #### When to use large thread sizes Use to support large fastening loads, reduce stress on the fastening and avoid fatigue. We can create products to match the thread size you’re working with. **Want to create something similar?** [Get in touch](#contact-form)
- # Multi-fixing products ## Multiple fixings welded to one Head. #### When to use multi-fixing products Use to provide multiple fastening points, where individual positioning can’t be controlled during installation. The single Head keeps the fixings aligned relative to each other. **Want to create something similar?** [Get in touch](#contact-form)
- # Partial external threads ## Externally-threaded fixings with an unthreaded section. #### When to use partial external threads Use to fit a section of the fixing into an assembly hole without scratching the material. Also ideal for push-fitment of caps or sealing devices with o-rings. Depending on loadability requirements, the diameter of the unthreaded section can be larger or smaller than the thread size. **Want to create something similar?** [Get in touch](#contact-form)
- # Partial internal threads ## Internally-threaded fixings with an unthreaded section. #### When to use partial internal threads Use to provide a smooth lead-in for locating pins, or to allow parts to be inserted into the fixing, without engaging the threaded section. The inner bore is increased to greater than the thread diameter, creating a smooth section at the entry end. **Want to create something similar?** [Get in touch](#contact-form)
- # Plain disc Heads ## Fasteners with a solid Head surface, no perforation holes. #### When to use plain disc Heads Use for clean, efficient surface bonding. With no perforation holes, adhesive can’t spill through the Head and interfere with the assembly. Makes for a smoother adhesive application with less waste. **Want to create something similar?** [Get in touch](#contact-form)
- # Polymeric encapsulation ## Fasteners with polymer material around the Head. #### When to use polymeric encapsulation Use to isolate the metallic fastening from environmental exposure or electrical contact. Gives the option of colour matching to minimise the fastener’s appearance. Allows the fastener to be affixed to thermoplastics using ultrasonic welding or similar techniques. **Want to create something similar?** [Get in touch](#contact-form)
- # Property class/specific loadability fixings ## Fixings with standardised or specific geometries, material properties and loadability. #### When to use property class/specific loadability fixings Use when the fastening must sustain specific tightening torque and preload. We can create fixings to established standards and property classes to meet the required material property and loadability. **Want to create something similar?** [Get in touch](#contact-form)
- # Reverse weld studs ## Externally-threaded studs that pass through the Head. #### When to use reverse weld studs Use for installation loads that exceed the weld strength of standard products. Also ideal when the shoulder of a standard stud would create excessive standoff in a through-material configuration. **Want to create something similar?** [Get in touch](#contact-form)
- # Single-piece products ## Fasteners made from one piece of material, instead of two pieces welded together. #### When to use single-piece products Use for predictable loadability and mechanical performance, and tightly-controlled dimensional tolerances. Ideal for seamless incorporation into high-rate, precision-controlled automated manufacturing processes. **Want to create something similar?** [Get in touch](#contact-form)

## Our process

Using our 5-step process, we’ll help you define your project’s requirements, then engineer and build a precise solution that works smoothly across your whole system.

- 1# Define **Discuss and define your requirements** We work with you to understand your needs and challenges.
- 2# Design **Design proposal and indicative costs** We review and agree the basic concept for the bespoke product design. ## Applications information Sometimes, simply sharing technical information or data can help you achieve success at this stage.
- 3# Develop **Finalise design and agree specification** We agree the specification for product manufacturing validation. ## Specification setting We do this in advance, to ensure we develop, test and qualify new product designs according to your expectations.
- 4# Decide **Prototyping and sample approval** We produce samples for you to review against the agreed specification. ## Applications testing We can support you with testing our specialist products in ways that are specific to your application. [Learn more](https://bighead.co.uk/guidance/)
- 5# Deliver **Production and delivery** Your bespoke fastener product, made to order, delivered to your requirements.
